Role by Post

AI Disclaimer

As it has become a strong point of questioning, I'd like to make it clear that I used and will continue using AI agents to develop Role by Post.

Even though I am strongly against the use of AI in creative works — art, music, writing — it is a fact that software development has entered a new era and there's no going back. While vibe coding has become prevalent and several cautionary tales have been around since day one, I want to make a case why Role by Post is not AI slop.

I started my career as a software developer in 1998, and I have extensive experience building robust, reliable and professional-grade software. The company I worked for the last 10+ years introduced AI tools for developers about two years ago and the development teams' productivity and quality improved tenfold.

I have leveraged my experience and AI tools to build this platform to the highest of the industry's standards, and I guarantee there's no sloppiness involved. Quite on the contrary, people can have a look at the public GitHub repository, and see how I conducted several audits, features and bug requests, and reviewed every change before it was accepted.

At the end of the day, if you are still uncomfortable with the use of AI tools and would rather not use Role by Post, that's fine. No need to share any grievances with me. But I'd like to leave a quote from this message from Linus Torvalds, in the official Linux maintainers e-mail list:

AI is a tool, just like other tools we use. And it's clearly a useful one.

It may not have been that "clearly" even just a year ago, but it's no longer in question today.

...

In the kernel community we do open source because it results in better technology, not because of religious reasons.

And so we make decisions primarily based on technical merit. Not fear of new tools.
